Name: Worms 2: Armageddon Those lovable war like pink slimy things are back, bringing an Armageddon and a whole heap of enhancements and content to the Xbox 360, it's the second game to hit the platform, and the most complete. Worms has always enjoyed a certain trademark humour on every platform its been on, and as it's been on every major platform since the original release back in 1995 its become a very popular franchise.
On the off chance that you've never encountered the Worms games before then it's a strategy game where teams of Worms go up against each other; each team starts with an allotted set of weapons and each member is given a certain amount of time to use one to cause as much havoc as possible. The weapons you use range from ones you'll find in the real world, such as the Bazooka, to the downright ridiculous, like the giant Concrete Donkey which you can drop from the heavens onto any helpless opponents. Some of the basic weapons have unlimited uses but the more dangerous and outrageous have a set amount of uses.
All of the Worms start with the same amount of health which gets depleted depending on the weapon that is used against them, and their proximity to it. The battlefield for these wars takes place on a randomly designed piece of themed scenery and along its landscape you can generally find other hazards that aid or impede your team, such as mines, oil drums or even the ocean itself which will cause your Worms to drown. Each area in which the Worms fight can differ greatly; if you're in an open area then you can expect death from above with Air Strikes or the aforementioned Concrete Donkey. Should you find yourselves fighting underground then there's no help from above and your tactics will likely change to a more intimate style of battle. Between the turns crates may drop from the sky containing ammunition for your weapons, health, or gadgets, which you can use to escape your attackers, or make the lives of your prey even more miserable.
Now that the introduction is out of the way, what's new for the aficionado's amongst you?
The Worms arsenal has been vastly improved in Worms 2: Armageddon, there are now 48 weapons or gadgets you can all upon and most of the old favourites are back, along with a couple of new ones. Obviously the old classics that have been the staple of the Worms games are here, so you can expect the Uzi, Grenade, Mines, Dynamite, Blow Torch and Shot Gun to return, along with a host of others, and yes, the Sheep are in there as well, both in normal and Super forms. New weapons (everyone's favourite phrase when it comes to a new entry in the Worms franchise) include the Bunker Buster and Super Bunker Buster which are versions of a tunnelling bomb that drops from the sky, the Lightning Strike is a cloud that can be dispersed at will to fire bolts of electricity down upon your enemy, the Earthquake does exactly what you would expect, while the Poison Strike is like the Air Strike, but drops Poison instead of missiles. Lastly is the Buffalo of Lies, an angry Buffalo which charges through the landscape and destroys pretty much everything it finds in its path; it's a powerful weapon so don't expect to see it to be available very often.
New gadgets, which are never as much fun as the weapons but a necessity all the same, include the Emergency Teleporter which transports all of your Worms to random locations around the map at the same time, which as you can imagine either works in your favour or not, the Bridge Pack which is essentially five Girders you can use at once, the Electro Magnet which either repels or attracts metallic objects depending on where it's set when it's placed, and those of you who like to dig in and bury your Worms out of harms way will find the pneumatic drill pretty handy at getting you down through the landscape quickly.
