Name: Resident Evil 5: Desperate Escape When you last saw Jill in Resident Evil 5 she was helping you out by giving you information on how to defeat Wesker in the final show down, ever wonder what happened after you saved Jill from Wesker's sticky mitts and the moment she gave you the information you needed to defeat Wesker? No? Well, that's a shame as that's exactly what this chapter is all about. If however you did briefly wonder, then this will no doubt be of interest.
The chapter starts right when you leave Jill in the main game, after freeing her from Wesker's mind control device; as Jill recovers from the experience a B.S.A.A. member, Josh Stone, finds Jill and enquires if she's seen Chris or Sheva. Jill says that she has and Josh tells her that he's part of a team with a helicopter and they want to help Chris and Sheva take down Wesker, so they set off to do just that. As they make there way through the a dock area Jill remembers that she forgot to give Chris some vital information on how to defeat Wesker and so they make their way to a communications tower so she can send him a message.
In stark contrast to the last piece of DLC for Resident Evil 5, Lost in Nightmares, this time round there are no puzzles to solve, no aimless wandering about, no nods to previous adventures, these have been replaced with a great whacking horde of Majini to shoot at, instead of the odd failed experiment wandering about. As you make your way to the communications tower you'll quickly discover that you've got to fight to get there, and it's pretty much a relentless attack as these Majini are armed to the teeth, even wielding rocket launcher turrets to make sure you don't reach your end goal. It's not a straight forward dash to the end either, keys must be found to access the next area and you'll regularly find these wrapped around an enemies neck, so you're going to have to fight your way through at some point and not just do the avoidance strategy you might have used to fight your way through parts of the main campaign.
Many of the Majini from the main title return to fight you, including the Chainsaw Wielding and the Gatling Gun wearing maniacs you loved to hate. In fact it's probably more than fair to say that it plays a lot like the Mercenaries game mode with a story loosely wrapped around it, the ending does in fact include a section where you've to survive for so long while you wait for a helicopter to come and rescue you.
Shooting Majini, or Zombies, has never been a fun task in the Resident Evil games, with its complete lack of acknowledgment that it is possible to move and shoot at the same time, so buyer beware if you've never enjoyed that aspect of Resident Evil as you're going to be doing a lot of it in this romp. You start off with just a machine gun if you're playing as Jill and a handgun if you're playing with Josh, but heavier artillery can be picked up long the way; but don't get used to its position on subsequent replays as the placement of said weapons can be random, one time you'll find a handy Shot Gun or Magnum tucked away in a safe, the next time you play through you might find a Flash Grenade.
As with the previous DLC you'll not just be getting the new chapter to play with there's also a bonus thrown in which comes in the form of the Mercenaries Reunion mode, if you've already purchased Lost in Nightmares then you won't be getting anything new other than the ability to choose two new characters, this time round you've got Rebecca Chambers and Josh Stone added to the roster of selectable gun-totting individuals to take on the horde with.
Given the same price point as Lost in Nightmares you can't really go wrong if you want to add a bit more game time to your Resident Evil 5 experience. This DLC can be completed in about half an hour however, that is if you choose to mostly run instead of throwing lead at the Majini, so you might not get as good a value you for your money as you did if you purchased Lost in Nightmares. But still, not a bad price point in terms of entertainment value, particularly for fans of the Mercenaries mode.
