We've already seen the first part of the update hit the game, this introduced split screen offline play, trophy support and a mod browser to download user created content off the internet straight onto the PS3 amongst other things, so, here's what goodies are to come...
First up, we've two new game modes to play, Betrayal and Greed. "Betrayal" see's you teamed up with another player temporarily, with everyone using the InstaGib for one hit kills. With every kill performed by you and your team mate you score a point, when the points get high enough you can kill your team mate and take the points for yourself – Pure and simple, good back stabbing stuff! Should make for some interesting games amongst the community if nothing else!
The aim of Greed is to kill as many people as possible and collect skulls that they leave behind, the more skulls you collect and the more points you cash in on will net you more points. However, should you be killed yourself, your spoils of war will be knocked out of your hands for anyone nearby to pick up, the winner at the end of the game being the person with the most points but not necessarily the highest number of kills.
There's also a new game mutator, with the name taken from the name of the patch Titan. The new mode allows you to fill a gauge that once filled transforms you into a 15 foot giant towering above the other players in the arena, and, to make things that little bit more interesting your rockets will have been enhanced as well with the ability to pound the ground to set your opponents reeling away from you.
Sound fun?
Well, it doesn't stop there – Once you've reached Titan mode you can fill another gauge, once that's completed you'll transform again into a 30 foot Behemoth and REALLY kick some ass with even more stupidly powerful attributes, and if that wasn't worth the price of admission by itself (remember, this is FREE), there are going to be a rocking 19 maps added as well! There's 6 Deathmatch maps, 3 Capture the Flag maps, 3 Vehicle Capture the Flag maps and 4 Warfare maps to go at...
Phew! – A fair few new things to play with there then! – But, wait, you're not going to believe this, there is more...
There's the Link Station (helps repair vehicles), X-Ray Field Deployables (walk through it and you're see-through and a sucker to anyone who notices), Two new Turrets; the Eradicator and the Stinger which can be deployed during combat, a new vehicle called the Stealthbender which renders you invisible for surprise attacks, a slow field generator which you carry with you and slows bullets down making it easier for you to get out of the way.
Oh! – And two new characters to boot! Nova and Kana join the list of official players, not bad for a game that's been out for over a year then.
With such a monumental update to a favourite game of ours we couldn't help but have some questions, so we thought we would go and get some answers from EPIC the creators of the game, so keep checking back for the interview which is coming soon.
