So today Nintendo announced a Hi-Def iteration of the DS. I'm not sure I understand this. Hi-Def is currently either 720p or 1080p, why would you ever need that sort of resolution on a handheld device with a screen that's a few inches across?
What's more important is what will that do to the battery demands of the graphics chip?
I'm sure Nintendo will release something awesome – it has an unblemished record when it comes to handhelds. It does make me wonder though... What are they planning? It's not like them to be this obvious. Is there a twist?
For Hi-Def to truly make sense a TV Output would be required? Surely?
How very interesting and exciting to see Nintendo enter the Hi Def era though – and new hardware… YAY!
In related news: I will buy another Wii for the next Zelda. No question of that.
