Our Scoring Policy

GamesRelay scores games on a rate of 1.0 to 10.0. We believe this is specific enough to convey and identify the differences and quality of the game in question.

10: Excellent This rare score refers to a game that you must play. It cannot aspire to be anything more than it is and while no game is perfect, it's as near as it's going to get. Other games will come out over the course of time that may make this game obsolete some day, but at the time this score was given the game could not have been improved upon any further.

9.0 - 9.9: Brilliant A brilliant game is just that. We highly recommend that you play it if you're a fan of the particular genre that this score refers too. Brilliant games can come with certain unlikeable aspects of gameplay or bugs but overall it is something we recommend to anyone.

8.0 - 8.9: Great Overall a great game with some minor setbacks is what this refers to. Hardcore and casual players alike should find the game an enjoyable experience especially for fans of the particular genre.

7.0 - 7.9: Good A game within this score range is good overall and most fans will very likely find it an enjoyable experience. While its strengths outweigh its weaknesses, a game within this score will have noticeable faults which some players may not like.

6.0 - 6.9: Above Average Above average games can be an enjoyable experience for some and worth playing for particular fans of the genre, though an above average game may not conform to all players expectations with certain aspects of gameplay either lacking or missing completely.

5.0 - 5.9: Mediocre A score between 5.0 and 5.9 is an average game, something you may or may not like. Players looking to play a game with this score range should use caution when deciding. There's most likely a better game of similar style our there which you would find more enjoyable.

4.0 - 4.9: Below Average Games that fall below a usual standard we come to expect fall into this category. A below average game can have various flaws like broken gameplay, lack of cohesion or simply be a rushed game that should have spent more time in the developers hands.

3.0 - 3.9: Bad Being a bad game is something you should probably avoid. Some may like particular aspects of the game but overall any of the games positive qualities are far outweighed by its negatives.

2.0 - 2.9: Terrible A terrible game is something we would advise you avoid, it could have serious game breaking bugs that should have been fixed or could be totally devoid of any remotely decent or fully functional features.

1.0 - 1.9: Atrocious A rare score to be given to any game. An atrocious game is something we highly suggest you avoid at all costs. The lowest score we give will exemplify the games low quality, bad gameplay and other aspects which players will not enjoy. Simply, don't play or buy this game.

What type of games do we review?
GamesRelay selects games to review on the basis of what is of interest to us and our readers. This could be the latest blockbuster to the latest puzzle game, we keep an open mind about all genres.

Do we ever review a game more than once?
Not usually. If a game has been released in one territory and is then re-released a while later in another with game changing content for instance, we may decide that the game deserves being looked at again. Instead of changing the previously awarded score we will write a whole new review.

Does GamesRelay ever change it's scores on particular reviews?
We never change a score once it has been given. If a title has been re-released and is equally better or worse than it's counterpart we will issue a new review and score based on these findings.
