Kratos sees Atlas, still holding up the world as he had previously left him and lands upon him. Seeing the chance to make an ally he asks Atlas to put aside their past differences but Atlas refuses to help Kratos on his quest, still smarting at the part he played in his imprisonment all those years ago. Kratos relays his mission to Atlas who sees that helping Kratos out after all could prove beneficial to him and he eventually agrees to help, parting with the last part of his magic so Kratos can use that in his quest before placing him back on the Worlds surface.
Kratos wanders the Sisters palace in an effort to find them, he comes across a Spartan warrior who was present at the battle in Rhodes and he reveals to Kratos that Zeus has destroyed the Spartan army leaving him depressed and lacking the willpower to continue his quest. A Kraken appears and makes to attack Kratos, not caring, Kratos refuses to arm himself and instead shouts at the Gods, challenging them and allowing the monster to take a hold of him. Just as he is about to relinquish his life to the Kraken he is inspired by Gaia who tells him that if he dies he will suffer an eternal torment at the hands of Zeus and the other Gods, if he continues the fight Gaia promises that Zeus will fall. Kratos's rage fills once more and he defeats the Kraken before jumping on the back of the Pheonix who delivers him to the Palace of the Sisters where he can finally confront the Sisters of Time, Lakhesis, Atropos and Clotho.
Kratos comes across Lakhesis first and when he does she reveals to him that it was her that decided the outcome of the great war between the Titans and the Olympians, she was the one that decided that the Titans would suffer the defeat. The pair embark on a vicous battle, one which Kratos thinks he has won before Lakhesis rises and summons her sister, Atropos to take Kratos back in time to his battle with Ares above the city of Athens. Atropos seeks to destroy the Blade of the Gods, the weapon with which Kratos slayed Ares, thinking that if the weapon is destroyed in the past then Kratos won't be able to use it to kill Ares and he will lose the fight. Kratos stops Atropos and the pair are returned to the present. Kratos faces both the sisters together, Atropos attacks from three mirrors which allow her to slip in and out of the present, as the battle flows on Kratos manages to destroy two of the mirrors before finally trapping both the sisters in the final one; once both are trapped in the mirror he destroys it and traps them both in time for all of eternity.
He carries on his journey and makes his way to Clotho, the final sister, on route he comes across three murals which show past, present and future. The one from the past depicts the great battle between the Titans and the Olympians, the second shows a lone man (possibly Kratos) standing and surveying a battle that is raging below him, the last depicts the classic scene of the Three Wise Men making their way to the birth of Christ. Once inside Clotho's chamber he is in awe of her massive and grotesque size, she is surrounded by a series of platforms to allow her minions to help her, he uses these platforms and the machinery associated with them to trap her arms so she is unable to thwart his approach, before finally making it to the top of the scaffolding system around her. Once he is able to attack her head he makes short work of her and uses a swinging blade to kill her once and for all.
With all three sisters dead he is able to control the Loom of Fate and he uses it to go back in time to his battle with Zeus. Kratos reclaims the Blade of Olympus and a mighty battle breaks out between the former God of War and the King of the Gods. Zeus gains the upper hand and blasts Kratos with a lightning storm; Kratos seeing that he can not win against such a force calls out his surrender. A seemingly beaten man, Kratos asks Zeus to kill him and finally let his life come to an end, Zeus threatens that he will release Kratos from his torment of mortal life but a whole new torment awaits him in death. At the final moment Kratos dodges Zeus's killing blow and manages to pin Zeus to some nearby rocks with his own blades, once subdued he takes the Blade of Olympus and begins to drive it into Zeus. At this moment Athena appears and seeks to defend Zeus, she tells an enraged Kratos that she has no intention of fighting him; she only seeks to save Olympus.
Zeus uses the distraction to try and escape, he tells Kratos that he has started something he can not hope to win; the Fates after all have already declared him victor. Kratos chases after Zeus and attacks him, unfortunately the attack fails when Athena jumps in to take the blow meant for Zeus. Lying in Kratos's arms dying, she tells him that Zeus is in fact his Father and begs him to forget his quest and forgive their Father. Kratos is outraged by this, angrily denying that he has a Father, though Athena goes onto warn him that all the Gods of Olympus will deny him and defend Zeus and Olympus to the very end and then she dies in his arms.
Kratos swears revenge on the Olympians and returns to the loom, he uses it one more time to go back to the end of the great war between the Titans and Olympians and seeks out Gaia; she claims to have been expecting his arrival but fears the war is already lost, Kratos convinces her and the rest of the Titans to travel through time to his present. Zeus in the mean time has escaped and is rallying the other Gods to take up arms against Kratos to finally defeat the thorn in their side. As he does the great mountain of Olympus begin to shake and Zeus looks outside, he is greeted by the site of the Titans scaling the mountain, Kratos riding atop Gaia, he shouts "Zeus! Your son has returned! I bring the destruction of Olympus!" and the game ends with the simple message "The End Begins..."
