Ubisoft announces Rocksmith, real guitar game

ubisoft_announces_rocksmith_real_guitar_gameGames like Guitar Hero may be getting old, however, it seems Ubisoft doesn't care. The company has just announced Rocksmith, a new breed of guitar wielding video game that actually uses - you guessed it, a real guitar.

Titled Rocksmith, Ubisoft hope to "create a new generation of guitar players" by having players play with a real guitar instead of one with coloured buttons.

It will feature an input jack that will allow players to plug in their guitar to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Whether all guitars will work or not hasn't been established, however, Ubisoft are in talk with "the likes of Gibson and others" to sell a bundle that will feature the game and a guitar.

Featuring the likes of the Rolling Stones, the Animals, Nirvana and David Bowie, Rocksmith will include songs that never appeared on either Guitar Hero or Rockband.

Rocksmith is due this September on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
