Demon's Souls 2 isn't coming, but its spiritual successor, Dark Souls, is. In a recent interview, From Software's Hidetaka Miyazaki mentioned that a demo would be unlikely and that Dark Souls wasn't the first name for the game.
Japanese gaming site 4Gamer, recently interviewed From Software's Hidetaka Miyazaki about the upcoming RPG Dark Souls. Miyazaki says that a demo for Dark Souls isn't scheduled which it launches later this year on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, however, the interview goes on further to say that Dark Souls is expected to last about 60 hours and will include around 100 different types of enemies. By comparison, Demon's Souls was originally 30-40 hours long and had around 30 different enemies.
Hidetaka Miyazaki also explained that Dark Souls wasn't the game's only name, two potential names which were later scrapped due to "international concerns" included Dark Ring, which was scrapped due to an association with British slang, and Dark Race, which could have been interpreted at being racist.
So why not just Demon's Souls 2? This is of course down to Sony owning the rights to Demon's Souls, and Dark Souls is a multiplatform title.
Dark Souls releases on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 later this year.
