EA isn't short on top development studios, with a long line of triple-a titles under its belt it seems strange that the publisher has taken a turn towards publishing some well known indie titles on PC, XBLA and PSN.
Three games are due to be published by Electronic Arts, first of which is Warp, a top-down stealth-action shooter from developer Trapdoor. Warp takes place in "a sci-fi world with a distinctive art style, addicting levels, hazardous traps and challenging puzzles," and is due for release in Summer 2011.
Next up is The Fancy Pants Adventures, a popular flash-based sidescroller which you can play online, however, the new release will include a new world, story and modes specifcally for its digital release. The Fancy Pants Adventures is scheduled for release in the Spring of 2011.
Thirdly is Gatling Gears by Vanguard Games, a twin-stick shooter which is more a sequel to Greed Corp than a completely new game. Gatling Gears is the love child of the merger between Guerrilla Games and W!Games, with "collapsing land, walker units and warring factions." The shooter is due in the Spring of 2011.
"One of our goals at EA Partners is to seek out the leading independent developers within the downloadable games market and publish their titles to a wide audience," said Jamil Moledina, Outreach Director, Business Development at EA Partners.
The three games are scheduled for release on PC, Xbox Live Arcade and the PlayStation Network.
