Square Enix has announced the release date for their new upcoming third-person shooter, Mindjack, on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Due in January 2011, the release date set applies to both North America and Japan.
The new third-person shooter is set in the year 2031, where Jim Corbijn, a government agent, becomes involved in a clandestine war between various governments and coroporations. Jim uses technology to 'Mindjack' people and machines to control their actions within the world.
The game will also feature online multiplayer elements, with a co-operative campaign that changes the world and challenges players will encounter.
Square Enix have promised that the game will "blur the line between traditional single-player and multi-player gameplay, creating a campaign experience where non-playable characters can, at any moment, transform into human-controlled allies or gun-toting foes."
Mindjack releases on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on January 18 in North America and January 27 in Japan next year.
