With rumours circulating about the existence of a new PSP and Sony ending the current PSP development kits life-cycle, Sony Computer Entertainment Japan has announced a worldwide price drop for the handheld, starting from tomorrow.
The PSP Go, which launched in October last year, hasn't had impressive sales to say the least, with a high price and no UMD drive it meant that current PSP owners who wanted to upgrade would have to buy their games all over again, most likely at an increased cost.
Reducing the price near Christmas should move at least some of the units before the handhelds full demise, so Sony hopes.
The Japanese price is now ¥16,800/$200/£132, the American price is $199 and the European price price is down to £159.
Even with the reduced price the PSP Go is still an expensive piece of kit, if you're looking at getting a PSP you would be well advised to get yourself the original PSP-3000, a cheaper alternative with cheaper games.
