Microsoft's announced today that Gears of War 3 has officially been delayed. The new shooter was originally set for release on 08 April 2011, however, the company want the title to release during the holiday season instead.
The news came in a statement from Microsoft, with Epic Games having "done great work thus far readying the title for release in the Spring of 2011."
It went further on to say that "we've elected to move the launch of Gears of War 3 until Fall 2011 to make it the marquee title for the holiday season."
Epic Games executive producer Rod Fergusson assured that the delay wasn't down to developement or quality issues, it was simply moved back for maximum exposure during the holiday season.
Gears of War 3 will introduce four-player co-op for the first time along with new weapons such as the double- barreled shotgun and a Pendulum War era Lancer. A fully controllable Mech suit will also be playable throughout certain parts of the game, armed with a machine gun and rocket launcher.
