ITV Player and MUBI coming to European PlayStation 3

itv_player_and_mubi_coming_to_european_playstation_3Announced and shown off at Sony's GamesCom conference was ITV Player and MUBI, two services heading to European PlayStation 3's soon. The ITV Player will be UK only, other countries getting a similar service.

Similar to BBC iPlayer, ITV Player will bring PlayStation 3 owners in the UK access to the ITV channel and its catalogue of programs, including, you guessed it, Coronation Street. The new service is UK specific, however, Sony have said that similar services will be coming to Australia, Finland, Spain, Germany and Holland.

PlayTV was also shown, in a new upgraded format called PlayTV Live Chat, which will include Facebook integration and the ability to "recommend, share, and discover TV."

MUBI, the movie streaming service, was also shown with more details being provided. We originally heard that the service was coming back in may but details were fairly limited.

Once MUBI launches it will include a forum with community features and social networking for film fans, allowing users to rate films, become fans and watch and discuss trailers and upcoming films.

Sony didn't say when the ITV Player and other services would be launching, they did however say that MUBI would be coming to 18 countries this October.
