gsc_game_world_announce_stalker_2_for_2012GSC Game World, developers of the apocalyptic first-person shooter S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl, have announced the second game in the series, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2, built on a new multi-platform technology.

The announcement came from GSC Game World's website where Sergiy Grygorovych, CEO of GSC Game World, said that "After the official sales of the series exceeded 4 million copies worldwide, we had no doubts left to start creating a new big game in the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. universe".

"This will be the next chapter of the mega-popular game players expect from us."

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 is being created with "a completely new multi-platform technology developed by GSC Game World", whether this means we'll be seeing the game go multi-platform is yet unknown. The announcement itself did not provide specifics on what platforms the game would be appearing on, you can bet it'll be on PC however since the previous games have.

The game is currently in development by the studio and is scheduled for release in 2012.
