NCsoft, the publishers behind Aion, have revealed today the release date for Aion's free expansion - Aion: Assault on Balaurea for North America and Europe as September.
Assault on Balaurea introduces new instances, zones, weapons, items, skills, and of course an increased level cap for players to experience. Players will have to "align together to launch massive counter assaults against the invading Balaur on their homeland" in the free content.
The new expansion will be released digitally and will be available to Aion players in North America on September 7, while European Aion players will get it on September 10. For anyone looking to start playing Aion, NCsoft have said that boxed retail copies of the game will be available in select retailers which include some exclusive pets.

Assault on Balaurea releases digitally to existing players in North America and Europe on 7th September 2010, however, players looking for retail boxed copies of the full game featuring exclusive in-game pets will find them at select retailers in North America on 7th September and on 10th September in Europe.
In Aion: Assault on Balaurea, the exciting new chapter of Aion, characters have the ability to align together to launch massive counter assaults against the invading Balaur on their homeland while experiencing new and updated instances and zones, an increased level cap, new weapons and items, new skills and added flight mechanics.
