Jack Tretton is on stage at the E3 press conference and has just announced PlayStationPlus, the PlayStation Networks premium service which will include some fancy features for those that want to pay.
The PlayStationPlus premium service will be available on June 29 and will cost $49.99 per-year in the US, €49.99 in Europe, ¥5,000 in Japan and HK$233 in Asia.
There's also the option of doing a three month plan which comes in at $17.99/€14.99/¥500/HK$38.
For a limited time the service will be free for three months.
So what is PlayStation Plus? The service allows users to download and try out games for a set period of time, similar to a demo. There will also be special offers on games, and free titles to download, all of which, according to Jack Tretton, will be in "hundreds of dollars worth of value".
Anyone who subscribes in the first month will get WipEout HD, an inFamous trial, and the PSN mini, Rally Cross.
Besides that, there will also be avatars, exclusive DLC, map packs, early access (possible beta's), automatic content downloads and updates, and Qore if you're in the US.
The free games the services gives will only be available if you are and stay a subscriber however, those who get a free game then don't renew will find their free game not playable.
