MUBI streaming service coming to your PS3

mubi_streaming_service_is_coming_to_your_ps3Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has announced a partnership with movie streaming service MUBI, bringing the movie service to the PlayStation Network for the first time.

MUBI isn't to be confused with the video store which is already available on the network, it'll be accessed in via its own icon under the video section on your XMB.

The service concentrates more on bringing quality over quantity to its users, mostly films which aren't advertised to the masses like other big budget movies. Kubrick, Tarantino, and the Coen brothers are just a small taster of some of the directors movies that will be available.

"You'll find undistributed festival gems ripe for your discovery, your favorite recent independent and art-house releases. Names like the Coen brothers, Godard, Kitano, Almodóvar, Tarantino, and Van Sant are some we'll bring home to you," Says Efe Cakarel, Founder & CEO of MUBI.

"Palm d'Or winners and simply films we think should have won awards. But that's not all. We'll bring you exclusive online premieres, collaborations with international film festivals, and retrospectives of some of the best cinema the world has ever seen."

You can check out shots and a trailer over on the official PlayStation blog where the announcement was made.

MUBI will be coming to your PlayStation 3 this fall to most major countries in Europe, no word on prices yet.
