Sony has revealed today that its upcoming 3D PlayStation 3 firmware update will not enable 3D playback through the Blu-ray media format, only games. Full details inside.
Sony haven't provided a reason as to why they won't, however, that doesn't mean they can't. All it would require is another firmware update to watch your Blu-ray discs in 3D.
The 3D firmware update is due for June and the four release titles will be WipEout HD, MotorStorm: Pacific Rift, PAIN, and Super Stardust HD.
